25 Best Tourist Attraction Beaches in Japan - Part 01
Japan is a long island country with the East
China Sea on one side and the Japanese Sea on the other. Its length leads to a
lot of coastline, home to a lot of beaches. However, the swimming season and
the climate vary significantly from north to south. Most of the best beaches
for swimming and sunbathing are in South Japan, Okinawa, but there are also
many great beaches in other parts of the country.
1.Hayama-Isshiki Beach
Hayama-Isshiki Beach is
located in Hayama and is a quiet beach that is not exactly what many people
think about beaches like palm trees and crystal clear waters. Isshiki Beach
offers a sense of tranquility, security and serenity that most other beaches do
not provide, even in the surrounding area. It's a perfect beach for young
families or for people who just want to relax and have a day. The Isshiki Beach
Hayama is famous for sunbathing, kayaking, windsurfing and swimming activities.
Visitors can take the JR to Zushi to reach the beach.
2.Yuigahama
Yuigahama Beach is located
within the boundaries of the city of Kamakura and is a sandy beach facing
Sagami. It has been a popular swimming spot for a long time since the Meiji
era, which lasted from 1868 to 1912. Surfers and families visit Yuigahama Beach
frequently today. Bodyboarding and surfing lessons are also offered at the
beach. The waters are low and soft waves. There is also an open air market with
many different vendors and other events during the summer months. Lifeguards
are usually in service between 9:00 and 05:00.
3.Shichirigahama
Shichirigahama Beach is
located near Kamakura town in Kanagawa Prefecture. On a clear day, you can see
both Enoshima and Mount Fuji at the same time. The dark sands of the beach are
quite rich in iron ore, which makes Kamakura a center for the production of
swords and knives. The name of the beach, " Shichirigahama, " means
" Seven Ri Beach " in English and the word " Ri " is a
measuring unit. The floor of the waters is dropping rapidly, so that the beach
is not so popular with travelers, but surfers can be found any time.
4.Enoshima
Enoshima is active during the summer season, including day trippers, walkers and people who just want to escape from town. All this has made the seaside town a popular destination. However, the beaches are the main reason why a large number of people visit. These beaches are located in the mainland opposite Enoshima island. Perhaps the jewel in the beach collection is Katase Beach, consisting of Nishihama Beach in the west and Higashihama Beach in the east. Katase Higashihama Beach has been one of Japan's first west-style swimming beaches.
5.Araihama
The small beach of Araihama is located at the
very southern end of Japan's Miura Peninsula. Despite its size, Araihama often
attracts a rather lively crowd during the warm, sunny days of fishing, swimming
and barbecue. Visitors will not find it too difficult to reach the beach.
Visitors can take the Keikyu train to Misakiguchi until the very end and then
take the regular Keikyu bus and get off at Aburatsubo. From there, you can just
follow other people who frequently carry inflatables and coolers to the beach.
Araihama has a majestic view of Fuji as well.
6.Zushi Beach
Zushi Beach in the Kanagawa
prefecture is a well sign-posted, short walk from the train stations in Zushi.
After just a couple kilometers, visitors will be able to settle down in a good
spot and enjoy the beach. Lifeguards are on duty during the summer months from
9:00am until 5:00pm, the designated swimming time at Zushi Beach. One of the
highlights of the beach is that itโs possible to see Mount Fuji on a clear day
off in the distance. The beachโs southern end has the best view. There are a
handful of nice cafes in the town.
7.Oarai Beach
Oarai Beach is the largest beach in the Kanta
area of Japan and is therefore one of the most popular beaches in the region.
It covers a large part of the coastline from the fishing port of Oarai to the
bluffs near the town 's edge. One of Oarai Beach's most surprising aspects is
that it is almost as deep as the beach is wide. Most of the sandy areas on the
shore are very flat, but covered with gorgeous white sand. The lack of rocky
outcroppings on the beach creates smooth waters for water sports and swim.
8.Onjuku Beach
Onjuku Beach is located on the eastern coast of
Japan's southern Chiba Prefecture. The relaxing beach paradise is situated near
a small coastal town and the nearest station is Onjuku Station. The beach is
only a 10-minute walk from the train station and is a popular beach for
tourists as well as locals. Onjuku Beach is a 2-hour train ride from Tokyo
City, served both by local and express lines. Visitors are welcome to rent
lockers, parasols, chairs and floats. A variety of drinks and options for food
can also be found.
9.Kujukuri Beach
Kujukuri Beach extends over 60 kilometers and is
an uninterrupted sandy beach along the Pacific coast in the northeastern part
of Chiba Prefectures. It is a rare beach in Japan, as most of the coastal
beaches have smaller bays. High waves crash on Kujukuri Beach, as there are no
reefs in the waters that make the beach a favorite among surfers in Tokyo all
year long. The southern stream of the sea warms the water for a longer part of
the year, well into November, offering a longer swimming season and strong
winds bring many kites.
10.Hirizohama
The paradise-like qualities
of Hirizohama 's waters or Hirizo Beach have made this beach one of Izu 's places
not to be missed. Tropical fish, clear blue-green ocean waters and some of the
region's best snorkeling opportunities offer plenty of fun for a day on the
beach along the Izu coast. The calm, clear waters with a variety of habitats
and abundant coral in Hirizohama are what distinguish it from the many other
scenic beaches in the area. The waters offer great places for snorkelling
without going to Okinawa.
11.Tatadohama
Tatadohama is the beach name that visitors can hear from local people in the area when they ask where the best surf spots are. The unofficial sign that the beach is one of the best surf spots is the usual sight of cars and campervans full of surf equipment and surfboards. The spacious and clean shore is quite vast, so you may need to take a break from your walk and camp somewhere on the beach, and usually there is plenty of room. Tatadohama Beach is within easy reach of the main station.
12.Iritahama
With
great waves and sparkling blue waters, Iritahama is a great place to stop and
surf or just relax while visiting the Shimoda area. The beach is a favorite of
the local area and is quite quiet during the off-peak season, and while it is
popular with both Shimoda regulars and visitors during the peak season, it
never feels too crowded. This makes Iritahama Beach the perfect place to try
surfing skills without worrying about surfing collisions. The beach is 3.5
kilometers from the station
